tilers

You're a great tiler. Running the business is a different job entirely. Hypotential helps Perth tiling businesses price properly, hire well and build a business that isn't stuck waiting on everyone else's schedule.

Sound Familiar?

The problems every Perth tiler hits

These show up when you're running a tiling business in the Perth market, and they compound fast if you don't get on top of them.

Where Are You Now?

Three stages. One path.

Most tiling business owners are at one of three stages. Each one needs a different type of support, and each maps to a different Hypotential membership.

Phase 1

Operator: you are the business

You're on the tools most days and revenue flows through you personally. This is where most tiling businesses start. The goal at this phase is to separate yourself from the day to day, get your pricing right, document what you do, and build the structure that lets you step back.

  • Know exactly what every job costs and what to charge
  • Quoting, scheduling and invoicing that doesn't rely on memory
  • A clear picture of where your time is actually going
  • The foundation to hire your first person with confidence
Phase 2

Team leader: you manage the work

You have people on the tools and the jobs are running, but you're still the bottleneck. Every decision, every problem, every quote still comes back to you. At this phase, the work is building systems and people that can operate without your constant input.

  • Processes your team can follow without being told twice
  • Quality that holds up when you're off site
  • Hiring that sticks, with the right people brought on the right way
  • A business that makes real profit as it grows
Phase 3

Business owner: you build the strategy

Your team runs the operation. You're off the tools and you're not putting out fires every day. At this phase, your time goes into the decisions that set where the business goes: new services, key hires, better margins, or what comes next.

  • Clear visibility across the whole operation
  • A leadership structure that works without you in every decision
  • Decisions made with data, backed by experience
  • A business worth something without you on the tools

You're Not Alone

Kane Tyler Smith · Founder, Smartfix & Hypotential

You don't have to do it alone

If you're a tiler in Perth who's gone out on your own, feeling the weight of running a business with no one to call, quoting in the dark and hoping the money adds up at the end of the month, I know exactly what your world looks like right now.

I started Smartfix with one ute in 2018 and grew it to 130+ staff across a lot of different trades. Along the way I employed and managed tilers, alongside electricians, air con techs and the rest of the team. The trade side was never the hard part. The business side was, and I created Hypotential so no tiler in Perth has to work it out alone the way I did.

FAQ

Common questions

How should a tiler price bathrooms and renovations?

Price from your real costs: prep, levelling, waterproofing, cuts, materials, labour and travel. Pricing only by the square metre misses the hard parts. Bathrooms need their own pricing.

How do tilers deal with delays from other trades?

Agree start dates in writing, check the site is ready before you load the van and charge for wasted trips. A quick call the day before saves a lot of lost days.

When should a tiler hire an apprentice?

When the work is steady enough for two people and you've got time to teach. Waterproofing and finish quality carry your name, so set a clear standard and check the work.

Is business coaching worth it for a tiling business?

It's worth it if it changes how you price, hire and run jobs, and pays for itself in margin. Look for someone who's run a trade business in Perth.
